The Game-Plan project funded by Sandwell MBC and led by Digital Native Academy to engage local communities into master planning by using computer games technologies to develop skills that help people gain a better understanding of the skills and knowledge to contribute to the process.
Activities have been happening all over Sandwell to engage audiences using a wide range of gaming technologies through specific programmes that help develop skills in people to understand built environments and consultation. Activities in schools have seen young people take on ‘The den’ in which groups of young people worked as companies consisting of construction, business and project directors all working towards one goal; to present their ideas for a real location in front of public & private professionals who acted as dragons. Groups from the local Sandwell Tenants and Residents Association have joined the Game-Plan project to further their skills through an ASDAN award aimed to develop a range of community focused skills, initially engaged through games activities which have progressed with visits to Parliament and local football clubs, such as Birmingham FC. Young people from local schools have been engaged in computer and video gaming activities over half term and summer holidays designed to support the development of their creative ideas for areas scheduled for regeneration. Please visit the Game-Plan web sites below to learn more and interact in the 3D environments. Game-Plan: Charlemont Farm Game-Plan: Tibbington
